Salimos en dirección sur por la ruta 40 para luego tomar la 186 y hacer la primera parada para observar El Cha-Chau, lugar donde habitaba el Dios de los nativos de esta zona, y más adelante para comenzar a divisar el paisaje volcánico del extremo noroeste de la Payunia. Continuamos hacia la Laguna de Cari-Lauquen con su característico color verde originado por la surgente de aguas, donde avistaremos las primeras aves de este humedal. Finalmente llegaremos a la Laguna Llancanelo, paraíso terrenal de más de 150 especies de aves, donde predominan los tonos rosados de los flamencos, blancos de los cisnes y garzas, y oscuros de patos, chorlos y macás, entre otros. Luego realizaremos el circuito alrededor del Volcán Trapal parando en el Real de los Jueces donde se podrá realizar una observación de las aves desde un punto privilegiado.
